The Vice Prez Sez –
It seems like it has been a couple of months since I sent one of these out. There has been so much going on since the last one.
The Monahans Car Show was on September the 10th. Yes, the weekend of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I remember the story that Brookings tells about the Cruiser Car Show that happened the weekend after the attack and how everyone said that they were glad to have something to do beside look at the devastation on the TV. Well, I still feel that way after 10 years and the Monahans Show helped. We had a good crowd going over and what a surprise, former member Scott Barton was waiting for us when we got there. It was a great day finished off by a Texas Burger Cruise.
As many of you know my Dad lives in Monahans. He came out to the show to look at the cars. While we were walking around he spotted the 1924 Model “T” truck with a stake side bed. Dad took a look at it and said, “Finally, something older than me”. We both laughed. While we were standing there a group a kids in their 20's walked up and said “Hey, Mr. Alex, what are all of these pedals for?”. Dad stepped over to the side of the truck pointed to the array of pedals and proceeded to discuss each one, their function and how they worked with the others. The kids and I both learned something.
The next weekend was our movie night. A little storm moved by and kicked up a little dust but it was gone before show time. I think everyone had a chance to eat a great burger from Ace's Grill before the show. Outdoor movie, popcorn, hot rods, chaparral running, great friends, and hamburgers - we gotta do this again.
Last weekend was a cruise to Lamesa to have a burger with several Lubbock car clubs. The weather going up was very nice but coming back was a little warm but what do you expect for West Texas? There were so many nice cars and all of them were driven! As nice as the cars were the car people there were even nicer. It was very nice and the Lubbock folks bought lunch for us.
The Jr Dragster Series finishes up with the last race in October.

like to be updated on Cruiser events and other car events. If you know someone
who would like to be added to this list just email me and ask to be added. Jeff
has also added a link on the Cruiser’s events web page and you can send
an email to us to join the list.
Every Saturday morning join the Midland version of the Morning Maniac/ Donut
Derelicts/ Coffee and Cars. The Burrito Bandits is a group of car people that
meet at Jumburrito on Midkiff Rd. in Midland by the Midland Park Mall. They
get together every Saturday morning to talk cars and eat a burrito. This is
a very informal gathering and all are welcome; just park around the back. The
group starts gathering about 7:30am and is gone by 9 or so.
On Fridays, there is a group of guys that meet at Way Out West on Andrews Hwy – Midland at about 11:15. If you can make it, come hang out with the guys for lunch.
